Military assault restarts in Buthidaung

Buthidaung, Rakhine State: Myanmar military restarted heavy assaults in the name of security scanning at Taimi, a remote area in Buthidaung township since last March 21, 2017.

Myanmar immigration office suddenly picked 40 Rohingyas from the family list data with the false allegation of being linked to Maungdaw attack. On Tuesday, at dawn the military raided the village.

As people attempted to flee fearing mass arrests and physical torture, the military randomly opened fire towards the crowd. A Rohingya Abdu Salam (35), son of Abul Basher was reported to be seriously wounded. More than 20 people were arrested and were taken to Buthidaung interrogation cell where they faced severe torture them. From the cell nobody knows where they were taken afterwards.

After the initial raid and several arrest, the military returned and continued their assault and this time targeted children.

On not finding their fleeing gaurdians male Rohingya, the Rohingya children were physically tortured and many were arrested. Some of the arrested young children from the village were brought to Boli Bazar police camp. Myanmar has sent a huge army on 24/3/2017 to Buthidaung and will be carrying out three months long military operations in the area. Boli Bazaar police camp Bogyi U Twin Hlin is the base for leading the violent operation.

Since February Burmese military has been carrying out multiple security checks including head counting, threatening and reinforcing National Verification cards to implement state sponsored genocidal campaign which started after 9th October attack on three police outposts by unknown assailants.
