Why are the Rohingya people fleeing from Arakan, Burma? Since June last year, Rohingya community has been increasingly persecuted by the Burmese security forces along with Rakhine extremists. They are corned in their villages and have no access to do anything for their livelihood. They have no food, no jobs and have been starving. In the meantime, they are also indiscriminately arrested, detained and tortured by the security forces and extorted money, according to a local politician who decline to be named.
There are no NGOs, and other supporting groups in Maungdaw, Buthidaung and Rathedaung Townships to support the severe suffering people, a local business man of Maungdaw Town said preferring not to be named.
