Maungdaw authority holds a so-called arrest warrant to harass Rohingyas

Maungdaw, Arakan State:  Maungdaw concerned authorities are holding a so-called arrest warrant to harass Rohingya community, according to a village administration officer from Maungdaw.
“The so-called arrest warrant was declared at the meeting of Maungdaw district administration office with Rohingya village admins officers  and Rohingya elders on last week.”

The district administration officer- Aung Myint Soe- declared to arrest more Rohingyas as per the arrest warrant which was issued on August 14 by deputy district Judge  under act 436 and 512. The Act 436 mention touching property and 512 mean escape prisoners.

“The so-called arrest warrant was issued on August, but it was not declared at that times  and kept as secret , but it was used by police officers of Maungdaw where they used to extort money from Rohingya.”
After visiting of  27 members of inquire commission  in Maungdaw, the so-called arrest warrant  was declared, said an elder from Maungdaw.
“The so-called arrest warrant was real issued  by district judge court  or not. If yes, why the police officers are arresting Rohingyas on the road, home, market and working areas. The Rohingyas are young people, oldmen and others are daily labors. After, arresting Rohingyas, the police officers are demanding money from arrestees. If it is real issue of so called arrest warrant from cout, it must be name and address and must submit to the court the arrest person for judgement. Now, it seen like to extort money from Rohingya community  by arresting any Rohingya who ever met .”
Recently, the police officers from Maungdaw  are harassing Rohingya community from  Ward number 1, 2 and 5, Myoma  Khayoungdan  and Shwe Zar village.
